About SmevDev

Founded on February 23, 2015, SmevDev was created to develop smartphone and tablet applications which are useful. We are a small company, with fewer than five employees. Despite that, we have very large goals and we are working our way toward them; one step at a time. We are growing slowly because we have very defined guidelines that we cannot ignore. Our first application, Road Rules, was developed to fill a niche and provide important information to people travelling in the United States.

(Updated 1 July 2019) We are currently working to expand into the Apple Marketplace. It has been a slow process, check Our Philosophy above to learn why, but we have the hardware and are starting to write Road Rules in Swift now. This is a very exciting time, and once we have it tested and available, we will submit Road Rules to the Apple App Store!

Our Three Partners

SmevDev was founded on the belief that the company has three partners that we work for and with to ensure our success.

How This Impacts Us

Because of our belief in our three partners, our company has done a number of things which would be considered unusual by today's standards. Because we refuse to allow outside parties have more influence over our direction than our customers, our company will not borrow money. This is not an easy decision, but one which will have a lasting impact on both our employees and our customers.

It is also a decision that our friends seem to agree with. In order to have enough funds for web-hosting this site, we sold 33 SmevDev shirts. You are, literally, looking at the supportive response of our partners. They bought shirts in suppport of our conscious decision to not put SmevDev in a position to be leveraged by outsiders. With the support of our friends and allies, we can be sure that SmevDev always moves in a way which will benefit our customers and employees; without being distracted by the requirements of a lender or shareholders.

Thank you to all who supported us in that fund-raiser! We will not let you down!

Road Rules

Currently our only product in the Google Play Store, Road Rules provides traffic laws for each state in the United States. Rules are also provided for the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. The laws are broken down by vehicle types, which can be selected in the Preferences, so that you only see laws that pertain to you. The vehicle types are Pick-Up Trucks, Motorcycles, Towed Vehicles, Commercial Vehicles, School Buses, State-Owned Vehicles, Young/Novice Drivers, and All Vehicles.

Comprehensive Web Solutions

SmevDev is happy to provide comprehensive web solutions to help you grow your online presence. We can take the guesswork out of creating an online platform. We can:

Your website can grow and evolve over time, which is only natural, and we can work with you to help your page keep up with your needs while staying within your budget. Let us know what you want to accomplish, and we'll make that happen. If we quote a price that is too high for your budget, don't despair! Negotiation is not out of the question. We want to help you to succeed, so contact us so we can start.

Check out one of the sites we've helped develop and are hosting: Ready Set Radio.

Why is Road Rules only available on Android?

Honestly, we started with Android because it was less expensive for development. We are currently working to translate it into an Apple program for the iPhone.

Why is Road Rules only available in English?

We are working on translating the application, but we don't want to trust programmatic translators because of cultural idioms. If you are conversationally fluent in another language, or have a friend who is, and would like to help us make our application multi-lingual, please email us your contact info, and the language you want to help us translate into, at support@smevdev.com. Once we get your information, we can send you a list of phrases for translation.

How can I help SmevDev?

Please check the previous question and see if you, or someone you know, can help us with translations. Otherwise, if you have an idea for an application that would be useful and does not already exist, and you want us to develop it, you can send your suggestion to support@smevdev.com.
